Los Cabos Part 2 – Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort

What can I say about about Las Ventanas al Paraiso that the photos can’t? Everything. This is one of the major perks of being in this industry that I promised not to write too much about because it’s just not something that many people can relate to. Would I normally pay $650 a night to stay in an entry level category in Cabo for a weekend jaunt? Not on my small business salary (okay, maybe for a special occasion but only because I’ve done it and know that it’s so worth the splurge). But I definitely wouldn’t have gotten an oceanview suite. I’m supposed to cover the “aspirational but attainable” niche, remember? My clients, however, can and do, and whether high net-worth or non-existent net-worth, everyone wants to feel like they’re getting value for their money – even better if they get a good deal! And since I’m with a Signature agency and Las Ventanas is a Signature hotel, my clients get a comped one-category upgrade based on availability (i.e. pay for the $650 garden view, more likely than not, get upgraded to the $800+ oceanview), plus a $100 spa credit, and breakfast daily.  And allow me to just show you that breakfast:

My lobster omelet and Joel’s chilaquiles served just after a fresh juice selection, coffee, and assorted pastry basket (their chocolate croissants rival patisseries in Paris) was as good as that view. But let’s backtrack, because food always causes me to digress.

First the check-in process. You enter through an unassuming private drive with no sign – like you don’t know where you are. The driver (some random taxi we got from the Hyatt Ziva), pulled up to the gate where the attendant with a clipboard found our name and ushered the driver to proceed. At the real hotel entrance, we were greeted by two attendants who welcomed us, one of which was Javier, our butler for the weekend. Javier whisked us away for welcome margarita foam shots and massages at the spa while the other greeter took our bags to our room. That 10 minute neck and shoulder massage we enjoyed together in the relaxation gazebo was heaven – definitely a good teaser to get us to come back for more.

The “lobby”
Walking to our room, late afternoon
View from the patio
Sunset from the room
Evening stroll around the property

Welcome tequila with assorted snacks, Bvlgari amenities, tissues embossed with LVP, a butler bell so we could order complimentary popcorn and newly released Blu-rays? Extravagant, yes. But AMAZING. I’m pretty sure Javier actually popped that popcorn himself because he delivered it and it was still warm. We had drank and partied so much at the Hyatt Ziva that this uneventful night of nestling in Egyptian cotton sheets, ordering room service, and watching X-Men is just what we needed.

We spent the next day in town and regretted it since we’d both been a handful of times and wished we had just stayed on property because we could have had more of this:

View from our cushy lounge chairs
Complimentary poolside delivered popsicles in addition to the bottled waters, sunscreen and service button to call the poolside attendant so you can get in every last minute of doing nothing
The gym that I had every intention of using but didn’t
Champagne on our patio

You don’t need a reason to drink champagne but even if you did, Las Ventanas is worth celebrating. After our two night stay and a late check-out later, we had to drag ourselves out of there because we didn’t want to leave; but at these price points, we’d need to sell a kidney to stay.

Farewell, Las Ventanas al Paraiso

But it didn’t stop giving even after we left. A group of 5 attendants, including our butler, lined up to wave to us as we departed in our sad little taxi. At the airport, we were met with a jolly representative from Las Ventanas who escorted to the front of the line to check us into our flight and directly through to security. Now that is some service.

Pricing: Starts in the mid $600s for an entry level garden view. Oceanview suites in the $800s. Villas upwards of $1k-$2k. But make sure to book through an agent who can get you comped amenities at the same rates as booking online.

Overall feedback: Pros – Gorgeously romantic property, super exclusive with very secluded/private beach (frequented by celebrities), impeccable attention to detail, butler service for all rooms with private dedicated butlers in the oceanfront villas. Cons – zero nightlife even though I was pleasantly surprised that were several other young couples there, breakfast service super slow because 3 courses with juice/pastries/mains so tell your server when you sit down if you’re in a hurry.

It’s expensive but if you can afford it, go. Treat yourself.
